- US Marine Corps’ Sole Approved Eye Protection since 2004 – With over half a million sets of eye protection fielded to the USMC in 4 years, ESS ICE spec tacles and Profile NVG goggle remain the standard issue eyewear for Marines.
- US Army Issue – ESS manufactures five eyewear models on the US Army’s Autho rized Protective Eyewear List (APEL). The ESS Profile NVG goggle and ICE spectacle are among the most widely-used eyewear systems in the US Army.
- US Navy Authorization – The ESS Flight Deck goggle is the only commercial goggle authorized for flight deck use by the US Navy since 2001.
- US Air Force Rx Preference – ESS’ prescription lens carrier (PLC) system has been identified as “the preferred system” by the US Air Force due to its value and the interoperability of this PLC in the ESS Profile NVG goggle and ICE eyeshield.

ESS着用のモニュメント像
1991年、アメリカ・ワシントンDCに設置されたNational Guard Memorial Museum(州兵軍記念博物館)には、過去4世紀にわたる州兵軍の資料や写真、当時の代表的な装備を描写したモニュメント像が時代別に展示されています。
その中で、2001年、9.11同時多発テロ事件以降の展示エリアにあるモニュメント像の装備品には、ESSのProfile NVG(ゴーグル)とCrossbow(サングラス)が着用されています。
9.11以降から現代においては、ESSが彼らの目を護る代表的なギアであることを意味します。また、アメリカ合衆国全米軍(陸、海、空、特殊部隊)に制式装備品として納入されているアイウェアの70%はESS/Oakley SIになり、
米海兵隊(United States Marine Corp)の供給元として、唯一、公認されたアイウェア製造会社であります。
U.S.MARINE CORPS FORCE RECONからの感謝楯
FORCE RECONとは
FORCE RECONの正式名称はUnited States Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance(アメリカ海兵隊武装偵察部隊)であり、特殊部隊である陸軍のデルタフォースや海軍のネイビーシールズといったアメリカ特殊作戦軍(SOCOM)の管轄下には入っておらず、アメリカ海兵隊の斥候部隊に属します。主な任務は主力部隊より先行して敵地に潜入し、威力偵察、斥候を行います。アメリカ軍が参加する戦いにおいて、最初に敵地に上陸するのは陸軍でも海軍でも空軍でもなく、海兵隊になります。海兵隊の中でもフォースリーコンは主力部隊の上陸前に敵地に潜入することから、アメリカ軍の中でも一番早く敵地に潜入する部隊とも言われています。陸海空全ての能力を有しており、上陸には空挺、水中と手段を選びません。潜入後の彼らの任務はあくまで偵察・斥候と主力部隊が上陸後の支援になり、本格的な戦闘は行いませんが、やむを得ない時は交戦が許可されており、状況により戦闘任務に就くこともあります。その実力はネイビーシールズにも匹敵すると言われています。また、さらなる交戦を余儀なくされた場合、彼らには艦砲射撃や戦闘機、又は爆撃機を使用した攻撃の権限まで与えられており、加えて油田、船舶への奇襲、人質救出、敵陣地破壊などの強襲攻撃型任務も可能です。
また、他の特殊部隊を偵察、情報収集の面で支援することもあり、ネイビーシールズやデルタフォースへフォースリーコンからの情報を提供する場合もあります。
